Maybe its time you treat yourself to some luxury with a couple of nice bathroom home improvement projects. There are several things you can do to make your bathroom a place of total bliss and relaxation. This article will look at a couple great ideas for your next home improvement projects.

The first and all important step in redoing your bathroom is to decide what type of feel you are after. Will you spend time taking nice soaks in the tub or would you prefer a very relaxing shower. You want to be careful that you are not influenced by your friend’s bathrooms or things you have seen on television. What is really important to you?

When you’re visiting the nicer plumbing supply showrooms you will see that they have very nice displays of complete bathrooms. They look so nice when you’re looking at them. That is what they are supposed to look like. These people are trained to set them up in a way that will look enticing to you. Your home improvement projects may not be headed in the same direction, and can often change if you do not plan ahead.

The three most important elements to your bathroom are going to be the sink/faucet, toilet, and tub/shower. You may be able to make a considerable change in your bathroom by just adding a newer style toilet. The plumbing of many of these newer toilets is quite unique – not to mention economical.

Maybe your home improvement projects will include removing a wall to make the bathroom bigger. One of the main reasons for a bigger bathroom would be to include such additions as a garden tub or a gas fire place. You might even consider adding a nice stereo system to your bathroom home improvement projects idea.

By: Tom Turner

The decision to employ a contractor for a home improvement job, room addition, or home repair might not always be an easy one to make. Sometimes, however, it is absolutely necessary to call a professional to handle a job you are unable to do yourself. If you are ready to renovate a bathroom or remodel a kitchen, you want the best person for the job, quality worksmanship at a reasonable priced. Nobody wants to be scammed out of good money for a poor job, but unfortunately it does happen.

Oftentimes, older people are preyed upon in home improvement scams. Taking advantage of a senior citizen’s tight budget, a scam artist may try to double-talk a homeowner into expensive, unneeded repairs, then take the money and run. If any work is done on the home, more than likely it isn’t enough to justify the payment, and also the work may be shoddy and leave the house in worse condition than it was. Such scams are not always perpetrated on older homeowners, however. Therefore, it is important to know what signs to look for so you don’t become ensnared in a fraudulent remodeling job.

What to Look For in a Home Improvement Scam

One possible sign of a con-artist contractor is the approach. If a contractor approaches you for home improvement work unbidden, be warned, especially if he or she is aggressive. Don’t let anyone talk you into repairs or additions you feel your home doesn’t need, and do not allow anyone to come off the street into your home for a “free estimate.” This could actually be a way for somebody to case your home for a future robbery. Even if this person claims to have done work in your area you will want to be on guard. Many contractors find work through customer referrals, so if you are in need of home repairs it is best to get referrals from trusted sources like friends and family.

Be mindful, too, of contracts and payment. If a contractor wants cash up front, or is reluctant to agree to certain terms on a contract, that is usually a red flag. If financing is needed and a contractor insists upon your using his or her referral, that could be another sign. It is not uncommon for unscrupulous contractors to receive kickbacks from creditors they bring into a job. If you need financing, go through your own bank or resource.

Does your contractor have a physical address and phone number, or work primarily through a PO box? This could be another sign of dubious intent. You want to be certain the contractor you choose can easily be found, and is properly licensed and insured. You may wish to avoid anyone who refuses to provide such information.

Be aware of anyone and everyone you approach with a possible home improvement job. Take care to explore recommendations of people you trust and examples of work by potential contractors, and know your legalese before committing a signature to any contract. This is the best way to ensure a job well done without any problems

By: Kathryn Lively

As sure as growth in the family and changes in lifestyle are bound to happen, so is the arising of the need for just any home improvement including repairs, additions and remodeling. Home improvement projects are essential in maintaining a comfortable and functional everyday living. Other than this, it also paves way to added home value allowing homeowners to recoup the investment at resale time. To achieve the given benefits and more, craftsmanship is one of the keys- making the role of your hired contractor crucial.

It is important to give ample time and effort to look for the right contractor to handle the home improvement in the most time-conscious, quality-oriented and budget-friendly way for you. When looking for the best New York contractor to match with your remodeling or repair needs, one of the most important factors to help in the comparison are the estimates. So whether you are in Manhattan, Staten Island, Long Island, Brooklyn, or Queens; it pays to know why estimates differ to get the best value for your money.

The most obvious thing that should cause you to become wary about an estimate is either it is impossibly low or unreasonably high. Either way, both cases show unethical practice of profession where the contractor is trying to take advantage of you. If you will be paying too low, then do not expect to have high-grade materials and supplies to be integrated into the project as well as excellent service. And why would you pay for an overpriced service when there are many honest contractors who do a quality job for a fair price?

To understand pricing better, you have to know what contractors use as checklist to establish the overall costs. Here are factors that causes home improvement estimates to differ:

1. Quality Craftsmanship

Why do contractors with more experience, have specializations and hold multi-skills charge higher? The service fee that they charge is partly for the assurance that homeowners will get the quality that they expect and deserve for hiring a reputed contractor like them. Their reputation stems from the long fruitful professional years of hardwork and the lot of satisfied customers to back up their worth. With these, homeowners will gain confidence that their project is in good hands and will successfully be completed.

2. Scope and Size of the Project

Home improvement estimates also vary depending on the details of the project specification that the homeowners provide. Some of these include the size and type of room, design concept, plumbing and electrical needs, the general layout, flooring requirements, and others. The elements will change based on the type of improvement to be undertaken, how huge the project is, how long to get it finished and what it requires from the contractor.

3. Materials to be Utilized to Complete Home Improvement

Home improvement estimates will also differ on the brand, model, make, quality and efficiency of the materials to be used. You have to keep an eye on the quality of the materials and supplies as these greatly contributes to the overall durability and longevity of the finish.

By: Eugene R.
